Mind-made Vs. Authentic Emotions Energy Practice (Sacral chakra focus)

What are Mind-Made Vs. Authentic Emotions?

Oh emotions.

Those rollercoasters of feelings that take us from the highest highs, to the lowest lows and everywhere in between!

Yet when we learn to identify, accept and even appreciate all of our emotions, all of sudden those intense feelings don’t seem so scary anymore. And when those less desired, emotions do arise (as they usually do), they don’t seem to stick around for as long either.

It’s also super empowering to learn to differentiate between emotions that are generated from our thoughts, or mind-made emotions, and those emotions that are generated from our soul, our essence, or our authentic emotions. You can also think of this as differentiating between your ego driven emotions and your higher self driven ones.

It should come as no surprise that emotions that are filled with fear, worry, doubt and judgement are typically generated from the mind, or ego. This is not to say that there aren’t times where we feel authentically afraid, angry, or confused. But most often when we find ourselves spiraling out on everything to fear and all that sucks in our life, it’s the brain and ego that are running the show.

So in those moments, I find it so helpful to have an energy practice that gets me out of my head and away from my ego, and connects me to the deeper, more embodied wisdom within me.

Our authentic, or soul essence, emotions, can actually be found in our 2nd , or the sacral (svadhishthana), chakra. The sacral chakra is associated with the color orange and governs our entire reproductive system, along with our feelings related to creativity, abundance, relationships, pleasure and joy. This chakra also directly communicates with the emotional layer of our auric field. So if you want to find out how you really feel about something, you want to learn how to spend time with your 2nd chakra!

Read on for a simple energy ritual, that when practiced consistently, will anchor you into your sacral and your most authentic emotions.

Authentic Emotions Energy Practice

Here's an energy practice for getting out of the mind-made emotions back into embodied emotions:

1. Start with some gentle movement, like stretching, light yoga poses, or some dancing.

2. Find a calm spot where you can sit uninterrupted for 5 - 10 minutes.

3. While seated comfortably, begin to rub your hands together very quickly, bringing warmth and energy into the palms and activating the healing chakras in your hands.

4. Place your activated hands just above and just below the navel, connecting them with the 2nd, or sacral, chakra, which is the energy vortex that houses our most authentic and embodied feelings.

5. Bring your attention to your breath, inhaling deeply through the nose, holding at the top and then exhaling deeply through the nose or mouth, and holding at the bottom. Repeat this breath throughout this meditation.

6. As you focus on your breath, allow your brain to just chatter away, allowing each thought to simply float by like the clouds overhead. Do not judge yourself for thinking, or repress the thoughts from coming. Just let them flow and keep returning your awareness and energy back to your breath.

7. When you feel a bit more settled in your breath and in this present moment, bring your awareness to your hands on your navel. Feel the warmth of them on your skin and then attempt to feel the weight of your hands on your body from within your body. Breathe into this awareness.

8. Begin to bring your energetic frequency up by thinking of a moment in time that made you so so happy. Allow the joy from that high vibrational memory to flood your entire being.

9. Ask your sacral chakra to share with you how you are actually authentically feeling in this moment and then just relax as you allow an emotion, or feeling, to slowly come to the surface. You may feel a hint of excitement, or pleasure, or perhaps you'll feel a deep anchoring or even strength within you that you did not realize was there. Allow yourself to be surprised by what arises!

Stay open and receptive.

10. When you feel complete, give thanks to your Sacral chakra and your emotions for being so present with you. Gently wiggle your fingers and toes and come back fully to the here and now.

Journal on anything that came up and and be sure to commend yourself for taking time to connect deeper with yourself!

with infinite appreciation,

Rachael
